Councillor

John Wells

John Wells

I have lived in Kirk Smeaton for approximately 28 years, with my wife and son, restoring one of the older houses in the village, in keeping with the traditional look of the village, where we are proud to live.

For such a small village we feel there is a large, warm and friendly community spirit among the residents. It is a pleasure to walk round the village and be greeted with a smile and a good morning. We think this is a special and exceptional thing to find this day and age.

I have applied to become a council member in order to help preserve this way of life by means of listening to our residents’ views and putting them forward for discussion at our council meetings. I have worked in industrial, commercial and domestic industries, in small and large companies and have a wide range of experience, which I hope will be of benefit to our community.

My interests were mainly sporting: football – both playing and refereeing, motor sports – racing and being the mechanic for a race team.
